Racing 92 Squad V Bath

Bath Battle to Victory, Secure Last-16 Spot in Champions Cup

Thrilling Win Against Racing 92 Led by Finn Russell

Bath Rugby secured a thrilling 29-25 bonus-point victory over Racing 92 in the Heineken Champions Cup on Saturday, January 14th, 2024.

Finn Russell, the former Racing 92 centre, played a pivotal role in Bath's victory at the Recreation Ground. The Scotland international orchestrated Bath's attack and contributed 14 points through a try, three conversions, and a penalty.

Bath, who had defeated Cardiff Rugby in their previous Champions Cup match in December, started strongly. However, Racing 92 fought back to level the scores at 10-10 at halftime.

The second half saw a back-and-forth battle, with both teams trading tries and penalties. Bath eventually emerged victorious thanks to a late penalty from Russell and a try from Miles Reid.

The win puts Bath in a strong position in Pool A of the Champions Cup. With a 3-1 record, they are second only to Top 14 giants Toulouse and are well-placed to qualify for the last 16.

For Racing 92, the defeat dents their hopes of reaching the knockout stages. Laurent Travers' side is now fourth in the pool and needs to win both of their remaining matches to have a chance of progressing.
